Kudos to Boo Rudder and the Musician’s Collective; Jazz for Father’s Day June 16, 2013

“You can read all the textbooks and listen to all the records, but you have to play with musicians that are better than you.”  Stan Getz – American tenor saxophonist

Kudos to Boo Rudder and the Musician’s Collective for a terrific show!

Jazz for Father’s Day followed Stan Getz’s advice in showcasing the exceptional talent of young Barbadian musicians with our veteran jazz musicians. If you missed this show, Boo promises more events.

Some of the highlights were the exceptional synergies between alto saxophonist Mylon Clarke and trumpeter Kweiku Jalani, and the beautiful duet with Barbados’ first ladies of jazz, veterans CiCi & Lillian Lorde who brought patrons to their feet.

The Musicians Collective is a group of serious Jazz musicians seeking to build a platform for working musicians to develop the skills of the young and talented players.

Well done. The Barbados Jazz Society was pleased to support this event. We look forward to showcasing more of Barbados’ jazz talent.
