Jazz for Father’s Day is the 3^rd in a series of concerts featuring the exciting talents of young musicians – saxophonists Romaro Greaves & Mylon Clarke & trumpeter Kweku Jelani, accompanied by veteran bassists Ricky Aimey & Cecil Bascombe, master guitarist Mike Sealy with the percussion team of Boo Rudder & Michael Wood. Special guests on vocals CiCi & Lillian Lorde – Barbados’ first ladies of jazz.

This is a project of the Musicians Collective, a group of serious Jazz musicians seeking to build a platform for working musicians to develop the skills of the young and talented players.

There is a freedom to wander the musical landscape.” Gary Burton – American jazz vibraphonist who developed the four-mallet technique for playing the vibraphone.  He is also known for pioneering fusion jazz & popularizing the duet format in jazz. A major jazz educator, Burton taught at Berklee College of Music for over 30 years.

Jazz for Father’s Day is part of an ongoing project by the Musician’s Collective, a group of serious Jazz musicians seeking to build a platform for working musicians to develop the skills of the young and talented players. This event, the 3rd in a series of concerts to date, features the exciting talents of saxophonists Romaro Greaves & Mylon Clarke, gifted trumpeter Kweku Jelani, the dynamic Ricky Aimey on bass, the Caribbean’s master guitarist Mike Sealy, along with the seasoned percussion team of Boo Rudder and Michael Wood. The second half of the show features vocalists CiCi and Lillian Lorde, Cecil Bascombe on bass with Mike and Boo completing the rhythm section.

Gillespie built on the virtuoso style of trumpeter Roy Eldridge, adding layers of harmonic complexity previously unknown in Jazz. With Charlie Parker, he ushered in the era of be-bop in the American jazz tradition.
