Jazz in Barbados February 15 – 21, 2013

The first time I heard Bird play it hit me right between the eyes. Through Dizzy & Bird I began to learn about musical structures & the more theoretical aspects of music.”John Coltrane – an American jazz saxophonist and composer who helped pioneer the use of modes in jazz and was at the forefront of free jazz.

New JAZZ3 @ The Waterfront Café starting at 8pm featuring percussionist Mario Porchetta with Wendell Mason on piano, and Richard Evans on acoustic bass. Canadian jazz pianist Steve Koven will make a guest appearance.

Jazz Friday @ The Beach Housein Holetown, St. James starting at 7:30pm featuring Mike Krimholtz on piano & vocals, John Duckhouse on trombone & vocals, Cecil Bascombe on electric bass, and Tony Scrooge on drums

Saturday February 16 

New Canadian jazz pianist Steve Koven @ Lobster Alive on Bay Street starting at 7pm with Cecil Bascombe on electric bass, Stuart Jenkins on trombone, and Frank Glen on drums

Jazz on the waterfront @ The Waterfront Café starting at 7:30pm with Bert ‘Panta’ Brown on piano, Linus Yaw on bass, and Boo Rudder on drums

Nj30 Quartet @ The Beach House in Holetown, St. James starting at 8pm with Kirk Layne on keyboard, Marius Charlemagne on electric bass, Rashad Hinds on drums, and featuring Joseph Callender on saxophone
