Jazz in Barbados May 10 – 16, 2013

“Jazz is a democratic musical form. We take our respective instruments & collectively create a thing of beauty.” Max Roach – an American jazz percussionist, drummer, and composer. A pioneer of bebop, Roach is considered to be one of the most important drummers in jazz history.

JAZZ3 @ The Waterfront Café starting at 8pm, featuring percussionist Mario Porchetta with Wendell Manson on piano, and Richard Evans on acoustic and electric bass.

Jazz Friday @ The Beach House in Holetown, St. James starting at 7:30pm, featuring Mike Krimholtz on piano & vocals, John Duckhouse on trombone & vocals, Cecil Bascombe on electric bass, and Tony Scrooge on drums

Jazz on the waterfront @ The Waterfront Café starting at 7:30pm with Ebe Gilkes on piano, Mike Sealy on electric bass, and Boo Rudder on drums

  1. Last 2 Thursdays at Weisers have been excellent. Yesterday the first set had only 2 people in the audience but more turned up for the second set. The Thursday before had 3 bands from BCC doing part of their exams with Andre Woodbine for the first set and then Andre joined in with Molasses for the second set. Again most of the audience was BCC musicians but I had encouraged another couple to come who came back last night.
