Calling all jazz lovers! The Jazz Society of Barbados is thrilled to present an intimate evening with the mesmerizing Jomo Slusher, happening on February 24th at the breathtaking Sweetfield Manor.
Jomo Slusher is a renowned trombonist and session musician with a wealth of experience spanning both the Caribbean and the USA. His musical journey began at the Barbados Community College, where he earned an Associate Degree in Music in 2009. His exceptional talent and dedication earned him a scholarship to the prestigious Berklee College of Music in 2011.
While based in Boston, Jomo’s career flourished as he toured and recorded with various groups, showcasing his versatility in Jazz, Pop, Funk, Reggae, and Afrobeat music. A highlight of his career was sharing the stage with jazz icon Esperanza Spalding and representing Berklee at the esteemed Umbria Jazz Festival in Italy in 2015. As a Berklee alumnus, Jomo co-founded the horn trio, GP Horns, which has since performed and recorded extensively for both local and international artists.
Jomo’s impressive resume includes a variety of projects, such as working as a musical director for HoneyJazz Barbados, performing and recording for major Soca artists and producers, and arranging music for the Barbados National Youth Symphony Orchestra. Currently, Jomo can be found performing with the Nicholas Brancker Band and leading his group at various local venues across the island.
